I worked in television for 30 years and believe me when I tell you that, if you are universally considered the biggest asshole in TV history, you are a flaming asshole with flames as long as the Parkway West.

Keith Olberman just wasn’t happy in his $10 million a year job at Current TV and he was fired.

And who did Al Gore, the head of the network and a guy who could have been president of the United States, hire to replace him?

One of the biggest assholes ever to work in government –Elliot Spitzer.

Count me as glad that Al never became president if this is any indication of his judgement.

  1. Cambot says:

If Keith Olbermann were anything like an honest journalist he would have designated himself as “Worst Person in the World” at least 500 times by now.

    • Richard says:

      Olbermann keeps getting fired.

I don’t know if Eliot Spitzer is the biggest asshole in government. That’s a bit disrespectful to the asshole-ness of Tom DeLay, Jim Trafficant, Richard Nixon, and Ed Rendell to name a few.

  2. Tim says:

Conservatives like to make themselves feel better by pointing out liberal assholes while at the same time excusing or forgetting about conservative assholes. Granted Spitzer is an asshole but so is David Vitter who also frequented prostitutes and is still in the US Senate with the full support of the Republican Party. Not to mention one of the people in the 8 pm time spot with Spitzer now is Bill O’Reilly, who had to pay out a multi million dollar sexual harassment lawsuit.

    • Vitter is obviously one of the biggest assholes in the senate. You don’t think the assholes have enough influence on our lives. I think they all have too much. I tend not to take sexual harassment suits seriously. Too hard to disprove. Plus, Bill Clinton survived a woman going on national TV and claiming that he raped her. Liberals yawned.

      • Tim says:

Millions of dollars aren’t paid out for nuisance lawsuits. There isn’t a small gov’t party in this country.. We have 2 big gov’t parties. I have to choose one of them. Conservatives also yawned at Anita Hill’s accusations. You know why? Because they both waited to report the alleged incidents.

  3. Kenman says:

Any guesses on where Olberman will turn up next? Radio talk show host?

  4. Mitch says:

Maybe now he’ll get a show on an internet radio station and a column in a rural right wing paper.

  5. Mason says:

I have come to the conclusion that Spitzer must have dirt on other ‘clients’. It is the only way I can understand him getting either job after a short gov run that ended in an utter disgrace.

  6. Carl B says:

I say who cares? To me, he become irrelevant years ago!

  7. franji1 says:

Rosie and Keith GONE. On the same day. It’s those evil Republicans again.

  8. Chuck says:

Some other asshole will probably hire Olberman because believe me, there is never a shortage of assholes like his last boss, “Ozone Al” Gore. whoi own cable TV or radio stations. Didn’t like looking at his ugly ass anyway…..Bye, Keith…..

  9. Mike from Monroeville says:

I dont kike the asshole but he gets ratings. He’ll keep getting gigs.

  10. Al Bundy says:

Could not have happened to a bigger douchebag. For all his cocksure attitude and haughty self image, he’s always came across as a miserable prick.

  11. metalslam says:

Look at all the names in these posts , can anyone disagree with TERM LIMITS. I can`t stand either party. There the same. Vote Libertarian

  12. saneman says:

Keith’s problem is he is an egomaniac who is difficult to work with. But he has at least taken the trouble to admit when he was wrong on TV> something Hannity, the biggest asshole on TV has never done.

And as far the Spitzer comment, you just showed your immense bias. Spitzer is guilty of being a massive hypocirte with respect to prostitution. But he went after wall street crooks and if Obama had the guts to hire him, he would have done a much better job than that idiot Geithner or Summers in checking the TARP bailouts which some people on the left and the right have hated.

  13. Al B says:

LOL at all of this!! John, come December, maybe we should have a vote for “Asshole of the Year”!!!

  14. Mike V says:

Olberman is worse than an asshole. He is a mooch. He gets paid for work he doesn’t do. He won’t do the election night coverage but gets paid. He gets fired, but expects his buyout. The guy is a low life mooch.

  15. Matt says:

Is there a more self-loathing prick alive than KO? He has achieved professional success, fame and fortune and he is still miserable. He has burned just about every bridge he has crossed.

OT: I was reading on Real Clear Politics about Obama sending a message to Planned Parenthood. It made me wonder if Obama even knows the history of Planned Parenthood? Then I wondered how many liberals knew the history of Planned Parenthood.

    Here is Obama’s message:

    • Dan says:

Which gives you license to shoot first, ask questions later, of course.

Otherwise what’s the point of bringing it up?

      • oksteelerfan says:

I’m not the one who made it all about the hoodies.

        • Dan says:

          You’re right. George Zimmerman did.

But you did feel the need to bring it up in your backdoor way of blaming the victim.

          • oksteelerfan says:

            Sure I did.
The black community latched onto the hoodie claiming he was shot because he was a black kid in a hoodie and was profiled for that reason.

I’m just showing if you buy that logic then the Obama government planted that image when they showed the scary guy in the hoodie planting a bomb.

          • Dan says:

“The black community latched onto the hoodie claiming he was shot because he was a black kid in a hoodie and was profiled for that reason.”

Yes. That’s no ridiculous claim. It appears that’s pretty much exactly what happened. One-shot kill, execution style. He was in such fear for his life he not only shot the gun only once, he killed the guy with that shot.

“I’m just showing if you buy that logic then the Obama government planted that image when they showed the scary guy in the hoodie planting a bomb.”

I’m sorry, WHAT? What a preposterous correlation. Where do you get your news in insulated White-klahoma? I’d bet my life you’ve never even spent 5 minutes talking to a kid like Martin, just profile him and assassinate his character from afar where it’s nice and safe.

You clearly have nothing to offer to this conversation besides blaming a 17-year old unarmed kid for getting himself killed WWB- walking while black – in the rain with a bag of Skittles and a hoodie. Gotta defend the white guy at all costs, even going to such lengths to drag out links to completely unrelated stories like that link above and that he once had a baggie that used to have pot in it. I’m 100% Scotch-Irish and even I can see this is a clear case of racial profiling and a vigilante gone mad. I see experts are now betting their reputations that Zimmerman isn’t even the guy screaming on the tapes like his family claims. There’s almost no EVIDENCE (as opposed to crackpot theories) that Martin did anything wrong here but you’re trying to blame him for getting himself killed. I don’t know what’s in the water out there, but it ain’t reason.

It’s lunchtime. Think I’ll have an iced tea ;-)

          • This isn’t about the facts of the case as much as it is about the media’s reaction. NOBODY outside of law enforcement knows the facts of the case. The media have jumped to conclusions. They may end up being right but that won’t change the fact that they took a stance before knowing the facts. Just as they did with the Duke lacrosse team.

          • oksteelerfan says:

Yes. That’s no ridiculous claim. It appears that’s pretty much exactly what happened. One-shot kill, execution style. He was in such fear for his life he not only shot the gun only once, he killed the guy with that shot.

One shot execution style? The report is a shot to the chest. Which network told you it was execution style?

I’m sorry, WHAT? What a preposterous correlation. Where do you get your news in insulated White-klahoma? I’d bet my life you’ve never even spent 5 minutes talking to a kid like Martin, just profile him and assassinate his character from afar where it’s nice and safe.

I got my news of the Obama government video from the government. For your information I don’t really believe Obama’s government was saying everyone in a hoodie is a terrorist out setting bombs. The claim though is no more ridiculous than claiming because a guy when asked for a description of what the kid was wearing gave them a description of what the kid was wearing.

I am not blaming the kid, I’m pointing out the media twisted facts and outright lied in some instances. If it’s fair to drag Zimmerman’s background into it then when his defense is he was attacked and acted in self defense, it is fair to know if the kid was an angel like the media claims or if the kid could be capable of attacking someone.

even I can see this is a clear case of racial profiling and a vigilante gone mad

How can you clearly see this was what it was? Because the kid was black? Because Zimmerman told when asked he was black or maybe because Zimmerman told what he thought his race was when asked? Did you read the letter Zimmerman’s family wrote to the NAACP? Why would a man who cared about a black homeless man beaten to death, be a racist vigilante?

Keep calling me a racist though and believing because I live in Oklahoma I’ve never met a black person or a black kid. My daughter’s best friend since kindergarten is half black/half white. She spent as much time at my house growing up then she did at her own. My husband’s best friend since junior high is black, we are godparents to his children. Although none of that should make any difference how many black people I know or don’t know.

Are you going to riot in the streets if they don’t charge Zimmerman? Are you going to say everyone is lying and doesn’t care about a black kid?

If they charge him with a crime, I will wait to make a judgment after his trial. If he’s convicted of a crime, I’ll say he was guilty. It still won’t change the fact that the media and certain blacks made it about race. If they don’t charge him then I’ll say obviously they didn’t have enough evidence to convict him of a crime.

Where is your concern for the thousands of other black kids killed every day by blacks? Are their lives any less important than Trayvon Martin? Black on black crime, including black teens is a huge problem in this country, why don’t we have that conversation? Why doesn’t the media want to have that conversation when they have for years said we need to have the conversation of whites profiling blacks?

          • oksteelerfan says:

I also realize you probably get all your information through the media since you claim Zimmerman made it all about the hoodie. Listen to the 911 call.

GZ:We’ve had break-ins, there is a suspicious guy. The guy looks like he’s up to no good, on drugs or something, it’s raining and he’s just walking around looking about.
911:Is this guy white, black or hispanic?
            GZ:He looks black.
911:Did you see what he was wearing?
GZ:Yeah, a dark hoodie, like a gray hoodie. Jeans or sweatpants and white tennis shoes.

Zimmerman gave a description of his clothing when asked the same as he gave his race when asked.

The media and the black community made it about the hoodie the same as they about it about race.

          • And NBC left out the question about his race and made it sound like he said, “He looks suspicious. He’s black.” Whoever edited that tape should be fired. But it’s Fox News that’s putting out the lies.

          • oksteelerfan says:

But they’re investigating themselves to see how that happened.

Has ABC started an investigation yet to see who put the logo over Zimmerman’s head?

    • Blasto says:

Nothing is more disgusting about the Zimmerman/Martin stuff than the absolute politiczation of a 17 year old kid being shot. I knew it was coming and I have not been disappointed. Even on this blog- right wingers “defend: Zimmerman and the lefties take Martins side. It’s a microcosm of the state of this country…and it’s not changing anytime soon.

  19. Mike V says:

Remember when everyone had to call Joe Biden “the smartest guy in the Senate”? The truth is, either the people in the Senate are idiots or Biden wasn’t the smartest guy in the Senate or he was the smartest guy in a sea of average intelligence.

Same with Olberman. I get the feeling the guy isn’t very smart. If he is really that smart, he would be able to go to a bank and get a loan to start his own network. At that point, he would destroy the competition with his genius and make a killing. He should put his money where his mouth is.

    • RKR says:

      Mike V.,

Nice post, but you could have stopped after:

“the people in the Senate are idiots”

The reason Olberman is thought of as “smart” is because he agrees with the liberal narrative hook, line, and sinker.

Anyone who thinks outside that narrative is stupid, anti-intellectual, and/or a knuckle-dragger.

I never like to hear about someone losing their job, but in this case I’ll make an exception. Good riddance you pompous, arrogabt windbag.

Maybe he and Rosie can team up and start a talk show. The only problem would be they are two insufferable personalities who are always a hairs breath away from being fired. It’d be one of the shortest-lived shows in history. (thank goodness)
