Hi John, just found this blog when I read about your book!! Just ordered the book! Grew up in your neighborhood (Scott) and met you again when you and your wife came to the Wildlife Center! Great blog! I think the Raider who smacked Ben should get a reward, not a fine!! Your are so correct!! I am really peeved that they cut Reed. They cut him and keep a jackass! Go figure.
The behavior of pro atheletes went downhill when they stopped having to take a job in the off season. I can remember Steve Blass and Dave Guisti selling class rings at Baldwin High. These guys knew what it was like to have to work for a paycheck.
Guys like Ben have had the behind kissed all their lives. They don’t know what is is like to have to work for a paycheck. They play childrens games and act like spoiled children.
your opinions suck
Your posts enrich us all. Thanks.
The pitching coach referenced in Chapter #12 has to the the infamous Frank Funk…
I enjoyed the book., especially the chapters about playing the pick up games…..the closest we got to a big name in our pick up football games was a guy Dale Cowher, Bill’s older brother..
Was he any good?
Mr. Steigerwald,
I’m a big fan of yours and hope to get to one of the book signings this weekend.
I hope all is well in your world and miss your biting sarcastic take on various topics. I look forward every Sunday to reading your column in the paper. Good luck with everything!
Thanks, Joe.
Not that I was parsing every sentence, but when you ripped Clyde for poor grammar, I had noticed that you had three mistakes yourself. “To” when you meant “too.” Lisa Guerrero’s name misspelled, and sportscasterettes (which isn’t actually a word, but you misspelled it).
Typos compared to “Yes we is?”
So, are you guys back in the bandwagon now since You are back in the superbowl? Meake sure that you guys do not waive your towels since Big Ben is still your quarterback like you say here.
It’s funny how reporters want to get recognized by athletes and write demeaning things to them because they did not say hi to you. Get a life and you are right “Just watch the freakin game” and keep your opinions to yourself.
I’m not a blogger. How do I know if you get my comments? Do your have an E-mail address?
I got this one, so you’re getting through.
What i don’t understood is actually how you are not actually much more well-liked than you might be right now. You’re so intelligent. You realize therefore significantly relating to this subject, made me personally consider it from a lot of varied angles. Its like men and women aren’t fascinated unless it’s one thing to do with Lady gaga! Your own stuffs outstanding. Always maintain it up!
You’re unbelievably bad at what you do…
Then why do you care what I write and why are you here? I’ve been bad at it for almost 40 years now.
Mr.Steigerwald,
I absolutely loved your book , ” Just Watch The Game “. Never read a book so honest , entertaining , and relevant to Pittsburgh sports from the 70′s on up. Couldn’t get enough of it and didn’t want the book to end. One of my favorites.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Nobody’s denying that he ever did charity work. It’s just that it looks more and more like the bad far outweighs the good.
