I actually think there are already far too many “bad” football players in the NFL. Expansion to 32 teams has watered down the talent pool, especially among offensive linemen (Flozell Adams, Willie Colon) and in defensive secondaries (Will Gay, Ike Taylor)…
When you consider how many kids play football, I think it’s a stretch to say that the NFL is watered down when it has (theoretically) the best 1600 players in the country.
He’s right but it will never happen. Too much money to be made by the colleges acting as the NFL’s minor league system.
College football and pro football are two different games. Hell, even the actual footballs are different. Sadly, the NFL needs a minor league just to teach defenders how to tackle and quarterbacks how to pass. College football does not properly prepare its players for the NFL, just as high school football does not properly prepare its players for Division-I football. Is high school football the minor league for college football? Just askin.’
Ridiculous. College football is the NFL’s farm system. If playing high school football doesn’t prepare you for playing college football, what does? Playing Madden 2010? Come on.
