PITT & RUTGERS GET THE MUTE GAME

You’ll know the Pitt football program has made major strides when you don’t hear a woman calling play-by-play for its games.

Sorry, I hit the mute button today as soon as I heard a female voice doing the play-by-play.

I don’t know her name and the few times I’ve forced myself to listen, she sounds like she does a good enough job.

I would rather have either Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachman in the White House than Barack Obama, but, call me a sexist pig, if you’d like, I just don’t want to hear a female voice describing a football game.

That’s funny, my wife absolutely can’t stand to listen to women sportscasters. Play by play, sideline, ESPN, it doesn’t matter, she can’t stand it!

I don’t think she’s in the minority. I’d like to see some audience research on that. I have a feeling that the only women who claim that that like it haven’t shaved their armpits since they were 18.

Webster’s definition of misogynist is “One who distrusts or hates women.” I don’t hate or distrust women. If Palin or Michelle Bachman ran against Obama tomorrow I would vote for either of them in a heartbeat. If Palin, who was a sportscaster, shows up to do play-by-play of Pitt-Utah on Saturday, she gets the mute button. I don’t dislike Pam Ward because she’s a woman. I dislike listening to a woman’s voice on a football game. Sue me.

Call me crazy but I think Franco Harris’ Immaculate Reception being called by Sally Wiggin instead of Jack Fleming just wouldn’t sound right.

Same goes for Foreman’s knockout of Frazier- “Down goes Frazier, Down goes Frazier, Down goes Frazier.” — wouldn’t sound right if Barbara Walters had been ringside instead of Howard Cossel.

How bad must USF be to have pitt beat them that bad. We were sold this high octane crap all offseason. Tire the defense out, control the pace. Tito, all wpial, Sunseri calls a time out on the second drive of the game on freakin 2nd and 3. Second and three. You just gained seven yards and the defense is on its heals and you call time out because you dont like what you see? on second and three? whats the worst that can happen on second and three if you have the wrong play called, third and five, RUN THE PLAY HIGH OCTANE BOY.

graham should be fired and sued for breach of contract. If you are going to rebuild and struggle say so, don’t b s everybody for four months and then play like this. They may give bull shitters a pass in the deep south, but last time i lived in the burg and you didn’t do what you said you were going to do in PGH, you were a jagofff.

this is pathetic. hope the pens game is better later.

I listen to Bill Hillgrove on the radio for all the Pitt football games. Sure miss Bill Fralic on color. Jon Burton should change places with Pat Bostic. Buy the way John, at halftime Pitt STINKS, losing 6-3.

I agree John.

Maybe it is sexist, but for me, it just doesn’t fit having a woman call a football game. Having said that, there are a lot of male announcers that need the mute button, but football should be called by men.

Looks like last week’s game against USF might have been an aberration. If Pitt loses, I won’t be surprised because the program has a history of losing games it should win.

As bad as Pam Ward is, and she’s awful without regard to her gender, the color man Dan Hawkins was worse.

BTW,the website Awfulannouncing.com gives out weekly awards called the “Pammies” for the most inane comment of the week. She wins it most weeks.

That’s one of the big problems I have. The anchorettes on Sportscenter try to sound hip and tough, using expressions like , “he went yard…” It’s bad enough when the men use those expressions. When it’s coming from a woman it’s really puke material.
