Wow.
Peter King is a thoughtful, analytical guy and in this week’s Sports Illustrated NFL Preview issue, he picks the Steelers to beat the Packers in the Super Bowl.
That’s a bold prediction and I wouldn’t expect to see one like it in too many other preview issues.
If I were forced to make a prediction right now, I’d go with 9-7 and no playoffs.
But, then I think that’s what I predicted in 2008.

Peter King hasn’t gotten his Super Bowl winner pick correct since 1995. I’d hold off on making plans for the parade.
I think Peter’s been smoking something. Maybe he meant the Rams? I think you are a lot closer to right than he is. Now if it were Nosmo King making the prediction, I might be more willing to listen.
Nosmo knew his stuff.
Could that be Nosmo King from Paul Shannon’s “Adventure Time” that was on after school?

Interesting. Whens the last time he was right? Not enough secondary help and no Ben for 4 = 8-8 or 7-9. I was probably being too harsh on Tomlin in the Batch blog (he cares ha ha). Cornerbacks are like Quarterbacks in the draft. Too unpredictable until you see them in action against other NFL caliber players. As far as the secondary goes, I have a question. Why does Lebeau have the corners 10-15 yards off the recievers when they line up? Can’t they handle press coverage? JAM THOSE RECIEVERS every so often.
Playing the corners off lets them and the free safety to play a cover 3 which minimizes risk of the big play and allows Polamalu to terrorize underneath.
I never cared for Peter King at all. I think he is a joke as a national sports writer. Whether he picks the Steelers or not his writing is terrible. He tries to prove that no matter how many absurdly wrongheaded notions he espouses, he is somehow still taken seriously. Read his weekly column on the online version of SI and you will see what I mean. As long as you can get through the name droppings that he is famous for.
I can’t remember the last time SI made a correct prediction about anything…more of their Jinx…
…peter kings clearly off here…the steelers ya ok peter…as long as dallas plays in the SBL and they lose in their own stadium…thats all that counts this year…thats a show i wanna see…
Who wants to go to Dallas in February? It’s not much better than Detroit.

You forgot to add that Peter King is also delusional, at least where the 2010 Steelers are concerned.A screwed up quarterback situation to open the season, a shaky secondary and an awful offensive line does not spell Super Bowl.
The Steelers have one of the six elite QBs in the NFL. They can make the playoffs and then make the Super Bowl. Stranger things have happened….heck, Super Bowl XL happened.

Speaking of predictions, isnt this the 35th anniversary of Joe Turkey jones piledriving one terry bradshaw into the hard turf of municipal stadium, with bradshaw flopping around on the ground after like a grounded fish. (if youve never seen it, its all over youtube).
Will history repeat itself with ben? will the rest of the nfl enact its own justice?

Local reaction to Peter Kings prediction does not surprise me a bit. Stillers fans and media shills have about as low a sports IQ as you can get. The Fans overreact to everything good and bad then the media keeps stirring the pot to sell papers and up TV/radio ratings. Peter King gets it,, picking a SB winner is like throwing #### against a wall. The teams are all like lottery numbers they are all good until after the drawing. Nobody can handicap who will win the SB,,,its clearly a crap shoot.
Aside from their question marks at QB, RB, OL, WR, CB, FS, and DL, I’d say the Steelers are the team to beat!

Developing Pro Bowl Talents:
Mike Wallace, Pouncey, Timmons, Mendenhall, Ziggy.
Good punter and good kicker.
If there was a head coach draft, Mike Tomlin would go in the top 10 and possibly top 5. Great ownership, strong, proven general manager. Winning history, tradition, high fan expectations at all times.
Last year was lousy and I know Ben is out for 3 or 4 games, but Super Bowl is not crazy talk and often the team that wins isn’t the one that was the hot team or media darling in the off-season. Also, Peter King’s wife is from here and he has a soft-spot for the ‘Burgh.
