Here’s what Chris Matthews once said of Sarah Palin:
“Is this [vice presidential debate] about her brain power?… Do you think cute will beat brains?…Do you think she’d do better on the questions on Jeopardy! or the interview they do during a half-time?…My suspicion is that she has the same lack of intellectual curiosity that the President of the United States has right now and that is scary!”
“Senator, do you think Sarah Palin is qualified to be President of the United States?…If she were on Jeopardy! right now and the topic was national government, American government generally defined, would she look like an imbecile, or would she look okay? Does she know anything?”
“I’d like to see her on just a couple of episodes of Celebrity Jeopardy! or It’s Academic Mac McGarry to just see if she knows anything.”
Chris was on “Jeopardy” last night and made Sarah Palin look like Margaret Thatcher.

Who cares. She’s old news.
I’m pretty sure Chris Matthews is still on the air and a big star at NBC.
Yeah, a star on NBC…..you don’t need to be intelligent to do that. Palin wanted to be VP and wanted to be President…..something that requires intelligence and she’s a frickin’ moron and a crazy bitch who would and HAS stabbed her own family members in the back for her own personal gain.
Palin was governor of a state. Matthews critiques governors. Couldn’t be one if his life depended on it.
Here’s a big diff between the GOPes and the rest of the world. You put much stock in people like Matthews because of your hero worship for the commentators on Fox News and talk radio. Hence, you think that Matthews performance on Jeopardy means something and has some relevence somewhere. The rest of the world could give a rats ass. When Matthews runs for VP and his OWN CAMPAIGN MANAGER calls him a know-nothing then get back to me..
I don’t put stock in Matthews. That’s my point.
Based on his ratings, not many people do.
You don’t put stock in Matthews yet you do a Blog post about him.?
I blog about a lot people and things I don’t put stock in. What’s your point?
…and the only reasons that Matthews, or just about anyone else for that matter, could not do exactly what Sarah Palin did is they are not as hot as she is and they don’t live in Alaska.
Yeah. That’s right. She was able to defeat an entrenched network of corrupt Republicans and Democrats and become the most populal governor in the country because of her looks. She’s good looking. I’ll give you that. But she got where she is because she has BALLS.
Yes and Glen Rice would like to have them back
She would never have been elected in the first place if she looked like Olympia Snow. She received a lot of breaks because of her looks that compensated for her utter lack of political depth and knowledge….even on her own supposed positions. I will agree that she does seem to have some sack…
The issue isn’t about Sarah Palin, it’s about Chris Matthews getting his comeuppance. My guess is he won’t be questioning someone’s mental capacity again.
He’s knowlegeable about politics, but he’s also a pompous blowhard.
This won’t change his behavior. He still be as condescending as ever.
No one cares about Palin and no one cares about Matthews. She’s old news and he never was news.
The people who responded here seem to care.
Apparently the producers of Jeopardy, one of the highest rated shows in TV syndication, care about Matthews.
In his defense I am sure he was distracted by the thrill running up his leg.
Karma can be beautiful
So the big “ass” on MSNBC made an “ass” of himself on Jeopardy? Hope Sarah Palin was watching…..
Grade A douche
That was the best episode of Jeopardy I have ever watched. Matthews looked like a completely flustered baffoon. I’m not saying that Hannity or Limbaugh could do any better, but I would bet the farm they would. That was not just a piece, but a whole pan of humble pie served last night.
Limbaugh and Hannity wouldn’t be stupid enough to place themselves in a position to look like a fool. All three are not very bright, bit CM was willing to make himself look like a fool.
Yeah. Limbaugh is stupid. Lots of stupid people acquire the wealth and power that he’s amassed in the last 20 years.
Limbaugh is a good radio guy. He has become a lot more stupid since a great thinker like William F Buckley died and he dosn’t have anyone to give him a decent thought.
Why don’t you give me some examples of Rush Limbaugh showing his stupidity.
His conservative arguments aren’t nearly what they were in the early years when he associated with Buckley and had a mentor. Limbaugh has turned into an angry guy and trys to get that out of his audience. Buckley was never angry, only a great intellectual. When intellectuals run out of ideas, they become angry. Limbaugh is nothing more than a radio guy not capable of grasping much more than anger in an attempt to get ratings. The once great conservative movement in the US that was headed up by guys like Buckley is now in the hands of Limbaugh and Hannity…God help us.
Still waiting for examples.
Listen to his show.
Give me examples of him being an intellectual..
No. You said he’s stupid. You go first. His success is testament to his intelligence. You ridicule him often enough. I would think you could rattlle of a page full of his stupidity. Be my guest. The floor is yours.
Doing well on Jeopardy isn’t a sign of intelligence, any more than winning at Trivial Pursuit.
I’m close to unbeatable at Trivial Pursuit and would do well on Jeopardy, provided that I wasn’t nervous being on TV. But I don’t claim to be a genius. I just happen to have a good memory and an interest in trivial, mundane facts regarding a wide variety of topics. That’s what it takes to succeed on Jeopardy.
Well I sure hope he does better next weekend on The Price Is Right!
I dont know why you think liberals like this guy. We cant stand him. He was voted by Media Matters as Misinformer of the Year. He loved Bush in his flight suit and he voted for Bush twice. Hes an asshole. We call him Tweety.
Jeopardy gets about 9,000,000 viewers a day, just “slightly” more than Tingle’s 700,000. Jeopardy was Crissy’s biggest audience ever, and he made a total ass out of himself.
I just love hypocrisy exposed.
The worst part of this is that Matthews really had no idea just how stupid he is. Does make for an excellent mouthpiece for the democratic party though.
I’m very surprised he did so poorly. From what I’ve seen, most of Obama’s ardent supporters would qualify for Mensa membership.
A thread about Sarah Palin really? Talk about irrelevant… You never miss a chance to talk about her. NEVER…
Maybe you should shut down this site, like you said you were going to. Although I guess you can’t proclaim your love for her in 140 characters or less…
You’re the one who focused on Palin. The post was about Matthews.
John, I respect your views on a lot of things and appreciate how you make me think about certain matters. But your unbridled support of Palin is just absurd. Yes there are a lot of dolts in the public eye so drawing comparisons to Sarah is useless. She was a major mistake and one needs to only look at the comments from the Romney camp about “not wanting to make the same mistake with a VP choice this time” as proof of the folly that was Sarah Palin. No, she was not just savaged by the media with “gotcha journalism, by almost ALL ACCOUNTS she was woefully unprepared and unqualified for the job and she has done nothing but write a book and make personal appearances since. If she was serious, she would join a think tank and educate herself. She will never be a serious contender for national office.
McCain would have lost by a much bigger margin with anyone else and he would have made it closer if he had let her be herself instead of micro-manage her. This post was about Chris Matthews getting his comeuppance more than it was about Palin, who actually is a DOER as opposed to Matthews, who is a talker about people who DO. (Like me.)
You mean Palin was a doer. Past tense. By not running in 2012 its obvious that she’s perfectly content to be among the Chris Matthews who talk for a living. She had a chance to run a campaign her way in 2012 and passed on the opportunity.
Yeah. I think the past tense of do is DONE. She has DONE what Chris Matthews talks about.
Sarah Palin, are you still screaming about her; she is kind of a shadowy character; yes she was Governor, but she was governor in Alaska for goodness sake; not New York! The have under a million people in the whole state, and half of them are alcoholics (fact)
She got elected because she was a “babe” and that state has more money then 90% of all the states; and didn’t need anything but a pretty face…
Unless she marrieds Kordell Stewart…
She has balls. Liberals hate women with balls, even though they complain all the time about not being born with them.
I concede that she has nice legs.
Might want to check your “facts,” Goose.
According to the most recent statewide behavioral risk assessment, 21% of Alaskans binge drink:
http://www.hss.state.ak.us/dph/chronic/hsl/brfss/pubs/BRFSSsum10.pdf
That’s not the same as being an alcoholic, and a far cry from half.
Palin’s endorsement immediately gave the eventual winner of the Nebraska republican senate primary a large lead in the polls.
She has more influence than you think.
Regarding your Alaska comments, you should live in NYC or California. You’d fit in nicely as you have the typically condescending attitude towards the rest of the country.
I didn’t realize how easy it is to piss off liberals until this post. All you have to do is type:
Sarah Palin
And then sit back and watch ‘em go crazy!
Not really. It kind of gives me a special feeling.
-Exactly Paul!
-The fact that liberals get this fired up over the slightest mention of her name speaks volumes. The fact that they loathe her to the level they do, tells you all you need to know.
Alex, can I have Ignoramuses for $500?
BTW, Keith Olbermann killed on Jeopardy.
Sports guys are smarter.
Hillary was doing pretty well working for the Watergate Committee before she got married. She may not have become a Senator but that is just a reflection of how women are treated. She was a good Senator and not a bad Secretary of State, The untold story is that she works hard.
She’ssupposed to work hard. She was fired from the Watergate committe for ethics violations and her supervisor refused to give her a letter of recommendation.
Another bogus story. The man making this claim has no proof of it.
