You won’t guess who is opposed to the PATRIOT Act.

      Who didn’t know that?

You’ve said it doesn’t violate anyone’s civil rights. He obviously disagrees

Again. Who doesn’t know that he disagrees?

I think they will sign Ike at a relative bargain. 3 yrs $14M.

Ike Taylor played well this past season. The Steelers need to sign him but they need either to draft a corner high or pick up a qulaity free agent

While it’s a must that the Steelers retain Taylor, here’s a vote for also picking up a quality free agent. Charles Woodson certainly was a difference-maker for the Packers.
In fact, had Woodson and Sam Shields both not been injured, I shudder to think how lopsided the Super Bowl might have been in favor of Green Bay.
How about the guy from the Raiders, whose name I can neither say nor spell?

        • Joe Butler

I agree with you. The Steelers need a shut down corner to go along with Ike Taylor. On the other side of the coin, real good shut down corners are hard to find.. Some need to be developed.

Do you think they will draft defensive backs high or do like what they have?

    • http://justwatchthegame.com JohnSteigerwald

Depends on what happens with Ike Taylor, who is a free agent.

John, even if they do get Ike signed, you still don’t see them taking a DB in the first two rounds? While the chances of a rookie DB learning LeBeau’s defense and starting in week one are slim to none, I can’t imagine them being comfortable with Gay, McFadden, Lewis or Butler playing the other side. While he has his flaws, Taylor had one of his best seasons in a Steelers uniform. Still, he’s not getting any younger and I can’t say that I’m all that confident in our DB depth chart.

McFadden has some serious consistency issues. Gay isn’t horrible on the blitz and has some good closing speed, but that’s where it ends. If a guy has time to make a move on him, he turns into Chad Scott II and Madison is no better than Gay. Madison is a special teams guy and nothing more. Butler and Lewis couldn’t beat out Madison. Are they slow learners? Was it a numbers game and they needed Madison to play specials teams? Whatever the reason, those two remained low on Tomlin’s totem pole.

I think, as always, it depends on who’s there. They have quite a few position where they need depth so I think this is one of those genuine best athlete available years.

No matter what Ike Taylor does, the Steelers need additional assistance at the corner slot
